ARTSCAPES: Meet Mark A. Lembo

I create abstract, multimedia montages using action painting and mark-making. A self-taught artist, I’ve earned grants from the Hillsborough Arts Council and Gobioff Foundation, and was named a 2025 Emerging Artist by the Gasparilla Festival of the Arts.

What inspires you?

In the creative moment, I’m often inspired by music from my eclectic playlist, which ranges from Buena Vista Social Club to Talking Heads. As a process-oriented artist, I also draw inspiration from the materials themselves, seeking harmony and synergy among the elements in each montage.

My work is currently on display at the Old Hyde Park Art Center on Swann Ave. One exhibit concludes April 29, followed by the juried “Bay Area Art Show 18,” opening May 1.

My next major exhibition is the PAVA Cool Art Show, set for July 19–20, at the St. Petersburg Coliseum.
